American Vandal is a mockumentary created by Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda. The Netflix series stars Jimmy Tatro, Tyler Alvarez, Griffin Gluck, and Melvin Gregg.
The first season explores the aftermath of a high school prank that left 27 faculty cars vandalized with phallic images. The second season investigates a crime at a private Catholic school after the cafeteria’s lemonade is tainted with a laxative.
In 2017, American Vandal was recognized with a Peabody Award. The committee noted that the series explored how the “ethical questions of the true crime genre intersect with the harsh realities of being a teenager in the age of social media.”
The series received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing.
